From June 7th, all passengers coming to Spain from a country or area at risk must show a PCR for SARS-CoV-2 or TMA or Antigen test with a negative result (write in English, Spanish, French or German), carried out within 48 hours’ prior the departure. Fully vaccinated passengers must carry proof of vaccination that meets Spain's requirements. The certificate can be printed or digital.
Passengers aged 6 years and older travelling to the Canary Islands from other regions in Spain are required to hold a negative Covid-19 test result obtained within 72 hours before arriving in the Canary Islands. Negative test results obtained through RT-PCR test, antigen test, and TMA (transcription-mediated amplification) test are all accepted. The test results must be written in Spanish and will be accepted in either electronic or paper format. Passengers must also submit their negative test results to the Canary Islands Health Service at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to arrival. This does not apply to:
- Crew members performing their duties,
- Passengers in transit,
- Passengers holding proof of reservation for a regulated tourist accommodation in the Canary Islands, provided they will submit their negative Covid-19 test results when checking in at the accommodation.
Passengers 6 years and older and above from anywhere else than the green countries are required to either hold one of the following documents, or they will be subject to a PCR test within 48 hours upon arrival in Spain and fined up to €3,000:
- a negative diagnostic test (RT-PCR, RT-LAMP, TMA or Rapid Antigen Test) certificate tested within 48 hours prior to arrival;
- a vaccination certificate proving that they have been fully vaccinated at least 14 days before travel; or
- a certificate of recovery proving that they have recovered from Covid-19. The certificate of recovery should include the date of the first positive test, which must be between 180 days and 11 days before travel.
The test certificate should be in either English, Spanish, French or German (however other languages are accepted), and in paper or electronic format. It must also contain the passenger's name, personal identifier such as passport or ID number or the passenger's date of birth, date of the test, identification and contact details of the centre that performed the analysis, technique used, and negative test result.
- The requirement to hold a test certificate does not apply to passengers in transit, or crew members.
Passengers will be permitted to travel to Spain in case of a permanently positive PCR test result, provided they have recovered from Covid-19 and they are holding both a Certificate of the PCR test result carried out within 72 hours prior to arrival, and a medical report stating that the SARS-CoV-2 disease is resolved in spite of the positive PCR test result. This medical report must be written in Spanish or English and must contain the following sentence: "Mr/Mrs XXXXXXX can travel by plane as he / she doesn't transmit Covid-19 in spite of his / her positive PCR" ("Dº/Dª XXXXXXXX puede viajar en avion, al no ser contagioso/a, a pesar de presentar una PCR positiva de Covid-19").
- The above requirement of holding a test certificate also do not apply to passengers departing from Singapore who will transit through a third country before arriving in Spain, provided they do not leave the international area in the country where they do a stopover.
