Thanks to this abundance of stone, the knights have erected incredible fortresses, palaces, cathedrals and inns with a very characteristic architecture. The history of the island is so ancient that we discovered megalithic structures before the Pyramids of Egypt, naturally classified by Unesco. A member of the European Union since 2004 and being part of the euro area, it has completely changed its economy and makes travel easier. It has become a very accessible destination, combining both remarkable heritage and natural splendours.
