The airline has a client recommendation rate of 92.5%

April, 12th, 2017 - Volotea has been selected by TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice 2017 as the best airline with a base in France, Italy and Spain in the “Europe Regional and Low Cost” category.

Out of the list of ten shortlisted airlines, Trip Advisor’s customers have included four UK based and mainly UK market oriented LCCs, and one in Russia, Norway, Greece, Germany and Malta. Volotea stands out as the only one low-cost carrier from an European South West country. Overall, Volotea ranks seven according to TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice.

Volotea operates from nine bases located among France, Italy and Spain, where most of its clients come from and the majority of its workforce belongs to: Venice, Nantes, Bordeaux, Palermo, Strasbourg, Asturias, Verona, Toulouse and Genoa, which has been launched yesterday April 11th2017. Volotea’s headquarters are in Barcelona.

In 2017, TripAdvisor's Travellers and the rest of Volotea clients will be able to choose from a lineup of 243 routes, connecting 79 mid and small-sized European cities in 16 countries: France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Israel, Albania, Moldavia, Portugal, Malta, UK, Austria, Ireland and Luxembourg. Volotea expects to carry in 2017 around 4.3 million passengers.

TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards for Airlines has been announced on April 10th 2017 and it is the first year announcing this programme. The awards for airlines are based on the airline reviews collected by TripAdvisor in the past year. Travellers’ Choice is TripAdvisor’s flagship awards programme in travel and hospitality and it is based entirely on reviews collected from Volotea passengers on TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards are the ultimate in consumer credibility and endorsement. In these reviews, Volotea has an excellent score with 88% of reviews scoring 3 or higher (out of 5). Volotea has nearly 2,000 reviews in 11 languages.

Growth in 2017

In January, Volotea has reached 10 millionth of passengers carried from its first flight in 2012. In 2016, Voloteaexperienced a significant increase percentually in its operations becoming the fastest growing large LCC in Europe.

Volotea also closed with a client recommendation rate of 92,5% and being the fourth most punctual low cost airline in the world, ranking third in Europe.

In 2017 Volotea has added more than 40 new routes to serve a lineup of 243 routes, operating flights to 79 mid and small-sized European cities in 16 countries: France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Israel, Albania, Moldavia, Portugal, Malta, UK, Austria, Ireland and Luxembourg. Volotea expects to carry 4.3 million passengers.

Volotea will count on 28 aircraft this year with the addition of 6 new Airbus A319s: 10 Airbus A319s and 18 Boeing 717s. More than 40% of the flights scheduled in 2017 are expected to be operated by Airbus A319.

Volotea will count on nine bases in 2017: Venice, Nantes, Bordeaux, Palermo, Strasbourg, Asturias, Verona, Toulouse and Genoa, which has been launched in April.

Volotea expects to become a 100% Airbus operator in the next few years. This strategic decision allows the company to increase its passenger capacity by 20%, from 125 seats to 150 seats on its new planes. Both models are recognized for their comfort and reliability, with Volotea offering reclining seats 5% wider than the average in airlines.

The range of the A319 allows Volotea to operate routes with a longer distance and penetrate new markets. While the Boeing 717 has a range of 2,500km, the Airbus A319 reaches 3,500km.

Four Volotea’s Airbus A319 are based in Nantes, where one of the six new Airbus A319s will also be placed. The other five will be based in Bordeaux and Toulouse. The new Airbus A319 of the 2017 line will be progressively during the first semester of this year.
